...Read MoreRead more about The strategies were very practical and in assessing online resources by considering validity, bias, etc. However, one of the links we were sent to for support on the assignment was a Common Sense Media website, which is widely reported to make billions of dollars lobbying legislatures to mandate aspects of curriculum, which in return require districts to use textbook funds to meet those requirements by purchasing from companies that meet those curricular demands, which they also have a stake in. This is exactly the type of bias and manipulation the course was encouraging us to get our students thinking critically about...ironic.
