GRADE LEVEL
In today’s fast-paced, interconnected world, students need rigorous instruction to think deeply, question thoughtfully, and tackle complex problems. But what exactly is rigor, and how can it be incorporated on a practical level in classrooms? In this course, educators will examine the benefits of rigorous instruction and learn how to apply cognitive rigor frameworks like Bloom’s Taxonomy, Depth of Knowledge, and the Hess Cognitive Rigor Matrix. Design lessons that empower students to take ownership of their thinking while discovering ways to create and revise learning tasks to increase rigor. Educators will leave with a toolbox of resources to boost questioning and build the critical thinking skills essential for lifelong learning.
