This course equips educators with the knowledge, tools, and strategies to guide students in writing authentic, engaging, and reflective essays that showcase their unique voices. Participants will explore classroom activities, mentor texts, and collaborative approaches that celebrate storytelling over formula, while also examining timely topics such as the role of artificial intelligence in writing, strategies for equity and access, and the impact of recent Supreme Court decisions on how students share their identities. By the end of the course, educators will have a toolkit of practical lessons, reflection prompts, and ethical frameworks for supporting students in crafting essays that are both powerful and personal.
