Strengthening Connections Through Cultural Humility

GRADUATE CREDITS
FORMAT
GRADE LEVEL
Build stronger, more meaningful connections with students, families, colleagues, and the community through the practice of cultural humility. In this course, educators and education-adjacent professionals will explore how culture shapes the way people interpret experiences and interact with the world. Cultural humility goes beyond cultural competence. It involves ongoing critical self-reflection, curiosity, and a recognition that people are the expert on their own experiences. Participants will examine their cultural lenses, recognize how bias and power imbalances influence decisions, and apply more asset-based and inclusive approaches. Along the way, learners will create a cultural autobiography, develop communication tools and strategies, and apply their learning through real-world scenarios and meaningful interactions. By the end of the course, participants will be able to approach their work with greater awareness and intentionality, applying the principles of cultural humility to create more inclusive and responsive environments for those they serve.
