Professional Development is intended to fulfill requirements for license renewal and recertification when the student has obtained proper prior approval. Please verify with your state licensing board that Teaching Channel professional development will meet your needs.

This course explores the foundational principles of Culturally Responsive Teaching and empowers educators to develop cultural competence, creating classrooms where all students feel valued, respected, and capable of success. Participants will examine their own identities and potential biases, learning to interrupt those biases to foster an inclusive and equitable environment. The course covers diverse student needs related to gender, disability, language, and religion. Specifically for Minnesota educators, the course examines American Indian history and Tribal Nations to better serve Native students. Participants will apply CRT principles to evaluate curriculum and design culturally responsive lessons that reflect the "mirrors, windows, and sliding doors" concept.

Educators will have 12 months, from the date of registration, to complete the course. Upon completion, you will receive a Teaching Channel Letter of Completion for 10 clock hours (university graduate credit/transcript is not available). This online course is priced at $99 (no additional discounts are available).

This course is also offered in a concise 3-hour format (PD112_24: Foundations of Culturally Responsive Teaching). The content is similar across formats, so we recommend selecting either the 10-hour or 3-hour version to best suit your needs.
