Professional Development is intended to fulfill requirements for license renewal and recertification when the student has obtained proper prior approval. Please verify with your state licensing board that Teaching Channel professional development will meet your needs.

Multilingual Learners (MLLs) bring an abundance of skills to the classroom–find out how to celebrate and amplify them while also supporting language learning! Learn the process of language acquisition, including the 5 levels, Basic Interpersonal Communicative Skills (BICS) and Cognitive Academic Language Proficiency (CALP), and identify the importance of utilizing academic language in the classroom. Investigate literacy instructional strategies that benefit all learners, including our MLLs. Then, consider the ways social emotional learning (SEL), culturally responsive teaching, and family engagement can support MLLs holistically. By the end of this course, you will be ready to engage and educate MLLs in your classroom!

Educators will have 12 months, from the date of registration, to complete the course. Upon completion, you will receive a Teaching Channel Letter of Completion for 10 clock hours (university graduate credit/transcript is not available). This online course is priced at $99 (no additional discounts are available).

This course is also offered in a concise 3-hour format (PD111_24: Support for Multilingual Learners). The content is similar across formats, so we recommend selecting either the 10-hour or 3-hour version to best suit your needs.
