This one-hour course explores Core Competency Area 6: Social, Emotional, and Behavioral Supports and the important role paraprofessionals play in creating positive, supportive learning environments. Participants will examine practical strategies for supporting social emotional learning (SEL), managing student behavior, supporting transitions, and building positive relationships with students. The course also introduces the function of behavior and proactive approaches that help students develop self-awareness, emotional regulation, and appropriate social skills while promoting a calm and inclusive classroom environment.
