Caring for the Mental Health of Your Students (Monticello) | Teaching Channel

This course is offered in partnership with Monticello Public Schools and registration is limited to educators within the district.

To meet contract guidelines and receive credit for the course, participants must attend two in-person sessions held within the Monticello school district. 

• Synchronous Session 1 (course kick-off) will take place from 4 PM - 6 PM on Wednesday, May 6 in the Monticello School Board Room.
• Synchronous Session 2 (course wrap-up) will take place from 8:30 AM - 10:30 AM on Wednesday, June 10 in the Monticello School Board Room.

This course explores the range of student mental health issues, both hidden and visible, in classrooms today, including behavior disorders, internalizing disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and related conditions such as substance abuse and suicide. Learn about the crisis in our schools surrounding mental health care for students, and make recommendations for improvement in your school or district. You will also explore suggestions for accommodation and modification for students who experience mental health disorders.
