Foundations of Phonics for Effective Reading Instruction | Teaching Channel

Professional Development is intended to fulfill requirements for license renewal and recertification when the student has obtained proper prior approval. Please verify with your state licensing board that Teaching Channel professional development will meet your needs.

This course offers opportunities to explore the foundational underpinnings of phonics– phonemic awareness, including alphabetic principle, letter-sound correspondence, spelling patterns, and more advanced phonics skills like syllable division. You’ll gather resources and strategies to help you incorporate these phonics skills into your literacy instruction, with the ultimate goal of improving student reading comprehension and writing.

Educators will have 12 months, from the date of registration, to complete the course. Upon completion, you will receive a Teaching Channel Letter of Completion for 3 clock hours (university graduate credit/transcript is not available).
